I know some of you play "The Isle". Well, today they pushed a new update. Here is what is in it.

Patch 0.14.28.61 now available!
Hey Islanders,

Thank you to everyone who participated in our recent hordetest, we're now pushing our latest build to the Evrima Public Branch! As mentioned in an earlier Discord announcement, for this patch, we'll be experimenting with a new server variant based on feedback gathered from our recent Hordetest. These servers will support higher playercounts of 150 without AI, and are based in both NA and EU regions. Initially there will only be two servers of this extra type available, but we will spin up additional servers of this variant as necessary and will remain available for as long as player interest dictates.

Please note; Our regular 100 slot AI enabled servers will still be available alongside the experimental ones.


Additionally, here's an example Game.ini for server owners to utilize the latest server functionality.

If you are looking to get to the East pond with the Deinosuchus, this is the route I had to take. Note, you have to do this as a fresh spawn. If you want to get any buffs before going, eat only fish and only get 1 buff. Anything more made me grow too fast. I just filled up while on the go, just eating schooling fish.

Expand

I found, on the last leg, fill up your stanima every time you come to a stop. Don't leave before you're at 100%. You should make it to the pond near the time you start dehydrating. Also, only look at your map and get your heading you need to go while you are regaining your stanima, that will save time which you will run short on.

Hope this helps any croc players that want to get there.

If there are any of you that play the game, "The Isle", you may have played as the

And when swimming, found to dive under the water required you to press Left CTRL. Well, for me, that is a very uncomfortable button to press, especially when using WSAD at the same time. So, if you are in the same predicament I was in, and tried to rebind the key which you may think it controls, since Left CTRL also controls "crouch", you would be mistaken. There is at this time, no actual way in game to change the key for the dive. If you are looking to change that to something other than Left CTRL, here is how to do it.


  1. First things first, I recommend setting up your controls first, just in case. Then, when you edit this file, before editing, I would put a copy on your desktop just in case.

  2. In Windows, in your search bar, type "Run" and hit Enter.

  3. Once you do that, in the input, type %AppData% and then hit Enter.

  4. Now, once you are there, the location you should be in is C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming,
    and what you need to do is go back one folder to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData.

  5. Once in there, go to the following file Local->TheIsle->Saved->Config->WindowsClient->GameUserSettings.ini, the full path should look like this:  C:\Users\dread\AppData\Local\TheIsle\Saved\Config\WindowsClient\GameUserSettings.ini

  6. Open that file GameUserSettings.ini file in your favorite editor.
    (For example: Notepad++ or Sublime Text),

    Once that file is open, do a search for:

    Code: [ Select all ]

    AxisMappings=(AxisName="MoveDown",Scale=-1.000000,Key=LeftControl)


    Appears twice roughly around lines 188 and 278. The one you are going to want to change is the second one. The second one belongs to the [SavedInput] group and the first one belongs to the [DefaultInput]. We don't want to change the default inputs, so only edit the second one. Me, ever since I played RTCW, I have always used crouch as C, and that is what I had set it in this game, and I also put the dive to that since that is how the game had it, so both crouch and dive were the same key. Since I did that, my new line looks like this:

    Code: [ Select all ]

    AxisMappings=(AxisName="MoveDown",Scale=-1.000000,Key=C)


    When you put what ever key you want, if it is a letter, make sure you put it as a capital letter in that file.


  7. Once done, save the file and start up the game. Now you should find you can now dive with your choice of key.

I know this isn't something I generally would post as news, but, I figured I would since I know many of you use or have used Avast in the past and stood by this product. For those that don't know what Avast is, it is a free antivirus software that you can download for your PC. They have been around for many years now and was deamed one of the better ones to use out there.

As of February 22, 2024, the Federal Trade Commission, (FTC), has announced that it will ban Avast from selling user data for advertising purposes. The FTC has also ordered Avast to pay a $16.5 million fine for selling and licensing web browsing data to third parties.

According to the FTC's complaint, Avast harvested user web browsing information from at least 2014 to 2020 through its antivirus software and browser extension. The FTC claims that the browsing data sold by Jumpshot reveals consumers' religious beliefs, health concerns, political leanings, location, and other sensitive information.

Avast's privacy policy states that they do not sell information that directly identifies you, like your name, address, or email. Avast's service data includes information about product usage and events relating to use of their product by you. This information includes samples, detection details, and files used for malware protection, information concerning URLs of websites, and usage statistics.

The FTC also claimes that Avast deceived users by saying that its software would help eliminate tracking on the web, when in reality, it did the tracking itself.


-- My Thoughts,
They are not the first nor will be the last that will gather data and sell it, but, things that I'm pretty sure is BS, is when they claim that they don't sell private data like names, addresses, and email. The reason I call BS on this is quite simple, eveyone else has and that informtion is what most want. Companies like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, ect..., all have done it in the past, and one of the funniest things I heard was from a ex Microsoft employee, that came out and talked about projects that he worked on, and other things, but also pointed out that when MS said that the way that they shared data, was not with names and emails, but with a unique id number and didn't store peoples email/usernames/names, but he also pointed out that it was not hard for them to take that unique idientifier and match it up with a user and called BS on thier claims.

My biggest grip is how this fine is nothing more than a small slap on the hand and is overall a joke. Last year, Avast revenue was $808.3 million, which in the fiscal year, Avasts 2023 free cash flow is over $750 million. I personally am getting tired of compaines like this, selling data knowing that at most, they will just get a slap in the hand. I know people seem not to want govenment intervention, but, someone needs to step in and say enough.
